Rusty was an English Folk Rock Duo and was Elvis Costello's first band. He and Allan Mayes performed together under that name from the beginning of 1972 to 1973. Allan Mayes met 17-year-old Declan MacManus (Elvis Costello) at a party on New Year's Eve 1971 and formed the Band Rusty in October 1971, along with Alan Brown (Bass) and Dave Jago (Vocals), with the idea of forming a more mainstream Folk Rock Group along the lines of Crosby, Stills & Nash, and shade by the songs of The Byrds, Neil Young, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan tunes.
