Bobbie Gentry is an American Singer and Songwriter from Near Woodland, Mississippi, who was one of the first female artists to composer and produce her own material.  Her best known of Southern Gothic narrative "Ole To Billie Joe", spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, and earning Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1968.  She charted 11 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and 4 singles on the UK Top 40.
