Tracy Nelson is an American Singer and Songwriter, was born and grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, best known as lead singer of Mother Earth.  She began playing music when she was a student at the University of Wisconsin, singing Folk and Blues at coffeehouses.  She met and learned from artists including Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Otis Spann.  Her band Mother Earth played the Fillmore Auditorium, sharing bills with The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix.
