Def Leppard are an English Hard Rock Band formed in 1977 in Sheffield, one of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal.  The band's strongest commercial success came between the early 1980s and the 1990s.  The original band name Deaf Leopard, but the spelling was slightly modified to Def Leppard (at least partial reference to the band Led Zeppelin), in order to make the name seem less like that of a Punk  Band.
