Mahavishnu Orchestra was a Progressive Jazz Rock Band from New York City, formed in 1971 by John McLaughlin (Guitar), Jan Hammer (Keyboards), Jerry Goodman (Violin), Rick Laird (Bass), and Billy Cobham (Drums).  Mahavishnu Orchestra was one of the premiere Fusion Groups to put their high-powered music between Rock and Jazz.
