Widespread Panic is an American Southern Rock Band from Athens, Georgia, formed in 1986 by John Bell (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Dave Schools (Bass, Vocals), Michael Houser (Guitar, Vocals), Todd Nance (Drums, Vocals), and Domingo S. Ortiz (Percussion).  The band influenced by the Southern Rock, Blues Rock Progressive Rock, Funk and Hard Rock Genres.  They have been compared to other Jam Bands such as The Grateful Dead and Phish.
