Andrew Hill was an American Jazz Pianist and Composer from Chicago, Illinois.  He played with Miles Davis and Charlie Parker in Midwest and he moved to New York in 1961 to work with singer Dinah Washington.  His status remained largely inside knowledge in the Jazz World for most of his career.
