Matthews Southern Comfort are an English Folk Rock Band from Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, formed in 1964 by former member of Fairport Convention, Ian Matthews (Vocals, Guitar), Mark Griffiths (Guitar), Carl Barnwell (Guitar), Gordon Huntley (Pedal Steel Guitar), Andy Leigh (Bass) and Ray Duffy (Drums).  Their big hit cover "Woodstock" wrote by Joni Mitchell for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young,  was reached UK No. 1, became a hit all around the world.
