In 1955, after opening for Elvis Presley, he decided to pursue a career in music. His band's style shifted from Country and Western to entirely Rock & Roll, and opened for Bill Haley & His Comets. Its success was followed by another major hit "Peggy Sue". During his short career, he wrote, recorded and produced his own material and he defined the traditional Rock & Roll lineup of two Guitars, Bass, and Drums. He was a major influence on later popular music artists, including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton and many more!.
