Jimmy Witherspoon was an American Jump Blues Singer from Gurdon, Arkansas.  One of the great Blues Singers of the post-World War II period.  He was also comfortably into the Jazz World.  His style of shouting Blues became unfashionable in the mid-950s, but he returned to popularity with his 1959 Jimmy Witherspoon at the Monterey Jazz Festival, which features, Woody Herman, Ben Webster, Coleman Hawkins, and more, later he recorded with Gerry Mulligan, T-Bone Walker and more!.  He move toward a definite Rock/Soul Sound and he traveled to London in 1974 to record with  British Blues producer Mike Vernon, who acclaimed British Blues Albums by John Mayall, Fleetwood Mac, and Ten Years After.
