Mahavishnu Orchestra was a Progressive Jazz Rock Band from New York City, formed in 1971 by John McLaughlin (Guitar), Jan Hammer (Keyboards), Jerry Goodman (Violin), Rick Laird (Bass), and Billy Cobham (Drums).  Mahavishnu Orchestra was one of the premiere Fusion Groups to put their high-powered music between Rock and Jazz.

Live In NY '71 is the live album by Mahavishnu Orchestra, was released on August 21, 2015 by Keyhole, recorded live in New York, in 1971, this remarkable set was taped for FM Radio Broadcast shortly after the release of the Mahavishnu Orchestra's landmark debut, The Inner Mounting Flame.
