JJ Cale was an American Singer and Songwriter and influential Guitar Stylist, best known for writing "After Midnight" and "Cocaine", songs that Eric Clapton later made into hits.  He became the blueprint for the Roots Rock of Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler and Neil Young as he is one of the most important artists in the history of Rock and considered to be one of the originators of the Tulsa Sound, a loose Genre drawing on Blues, Rockability, Country and Jazz.  In 2008 he, along with Eric Clapton, received a Grammy Award for their album , The Road To Escondido.
