Gretchen Peters is an American Singer and Songwriter from Bronxville, New York and moved to Nashville in the late 1980s.  She worked as a songwriter and composing hits for Martina McBride, Etta James, Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless, George Strait, Anne Murray, Neil Diamond and co-writing with Bryan Adams.  She won the Country Music Association Song Of The Year Award for Martina McBride's "Independence Day" in 1995.  She was inducted to the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame on October 5, 2014.

Blackbirds is the new album by Gretchen Peters, was released on February 10, 2015 by Scarlet Letter Records, featuring duet with Jimmy La Fave on "When You Comin' Home", Jerry Douglas, Kim Richey and Suzi Bogguss.  The album is good and great sad songs feels more like Soft Folk Rock such as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.
