Mark Knopfler is a British Songwriter, Film Score Composer and Record Producer.  He is best known as the Lead Guitarist, Lead Singer, and Songwriter for the rock band Dire Straits which he co-founded with his brother, David Knopfler, in 1977.  In 1995, Dire Straits disbanded, he has recorded and produced seven solo albums and produced many hit songs that he has composed and produced film scores for eight films, including Local Hero (1983), Cal (1984), The Princess Bride (1987), and Wag The Dong (1997).  He has recorded and performed with many prominent musicians, including Chet Atkins, Chris Botti, The Chieftains, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Bryan Ferry, George Jones, Emmylou Harris, Van Morrison, Sting, James Taylor, Steely Dan and many more!.  Mark Knopfler is a Fingerstyle guitarist and was ranked 27th on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.  He has sold 120 million albums, and a four-time Grammy Award Winner, he also received of the Edison Award, the Steiger Award and the Ivor Novello Award.
