The Beatles were an English Rock Band from Liverpool formed in 1960 by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.  They became the greatest and most influential act of the Rock Era, with several Genres from Pop, Rock, Folk Rock, Pop Rock, Psychedelic Rock.  Their first hit single "Love Me Do" in the late 1962.  They acquired the Nickname "The Fab Four" as Beatlemania and in early 1964 they had become international stars, leading "The British Invasion" of the USA Pop Market.  From 1965 The Beatles produced and released many finest materials and widely influential albums such as Rubber Soul (1965), Revolver (1966), Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), The Beatles (The White Album in 1968),  and Abbey Road (1969).  After their break-up in 1970.  They each enjoyed successful musical careers.  John Lennon was shot and killed in December 1980, and George Harrison died of Lung Cancer in November 2001.  Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr still remain musically active.  The Beatles are the Best-Selling Band in USAwith 177 million certified units according to the RIAA.  They have had more No. 1 albums on the British Charts and sold more singles in the UK than any other artists.  In 2008, the group topped Billboard Magazine's list of the All Time Most Successful "Hot 100" Artists.  They have received 7 Grammy Awards, The Best-Selling Band in the History, The 20th Century's 100 Most Influential People by Time Magazine, and estimating sales of over one billion units by EMI Records.  In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked The Beatles as The Greatest Artist Of All Time.
