The Band of Joy was originally formed in 1966 in West Bromwich, Birmingham, England by Chris Brown, later have conflicts with the band's management led to Robert Plant leaving the group, and quickly tried to form his own Band of Joy with his childhood friend John Bonham with Kevin Gammond (Guitar) and  Paul Lockley (Bass) played Soul and Blues was popular in Birmingham.  This line-up recorded a number of Demo Recordings in early 1968, but broke up in May 1968.
