John Coltrane was an American Jazz Saxophonist and Composer.  He played in style of Bebop and Hard Bop and helped pioneer the use of the modes in Jazz and was later at the forefront of Free Jazz.  He also appeared as a sideman on many album by other musicians, including Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk.  His best known and best-selling albums Blue Train i 1958 and A Love Supreme in 1964.

Blue Train is a Hard Bop Jazz album by John Coltrane, recorded on September 15, 1957, at the Van Gelder Studio, and released in 1958, considered Coltrane's first solo album and all of the compositions were written by Coltrane, except  "I'm Old Fashioned", by Jerome Kern/Johnny Mercer.  Remastered and reissued on August 5, 2003 by Blue Note Records,  featuring Lee Morgan, Kenny Drew, Paul Chambers, Curtis Fuller and Philly Joe Jones.
