Alejandro Escovedo is a Mexican American Singer and Songwriter. He began performing in the first-wave Punk Rock Group The Nuns in San Francisco. In 1980s He moved to Austin, Texas, where he adopted a Roots Rock, Alternative Country Style in the bands Rank And File. He started solo career in 1992. In 1997, he collaborated with Whiskeytown and Ryan Adams. In 1999, he contributed to the tribute album to Moby Grape's co-founder, Skip Spence. In 2003, in A Tribute To The Songs of Alejandro Escovedo, contributing musicians included Steve Earle, Jon Dee Graham, Lucinda Williams, John Cale, Jennifer Warnes, Ian Hunter, The Jayhawks, and Son Volt.
