Bud Powell was an American Jazz Pianist from Harlem, New York City.  Through Thelonious Monk was a close friend, his greatest piano influence was Art Tatum.  Along with Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk and Dizzy Gillespie, he was a leading figure in the development of Modern Jazz or Bebop.  He was one of the giants of the Jazz Piano.
