Soundgarden is an American Grunge Band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1984 by Chris Cornell (Vocals, Drums, Rhythm Guitar), Kim Thayil (Lead Guitar), and Hiro Yamamoto (Bass). Soundgarden was one of the seminal bands in the creation of Grunge, a style of Alternative Rock that developed in Seattle, same as Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains. The band achieved its biggest success with the 1994 album Superunknown, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Charts and yielded the Grammy Award-Winning Single "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman". In 2012, the band has sold more than 10.5 million records in the U.S. and estimated 22.5 million worldwide.
