Kal David is an American Blues Guitarist, Singer and Songwriter from Chicago, Illinois. In 1962, he formed the band Kal David and The Exceptions with Peter Cetera (Bass, Vocals, later with Chicago Band), Denny Ebert (Drums, Vocals) and Marty Grebb (Saxophone, Keyboards, Guitar, Vocals), Peter Cetera later joined The Big Thing, which became Chicago, and Marty Grebb joined The Buckinghams. Kal David left the group and formed a new duo, The Rovin' Kind, with Paul Cotton (Guitar, Later to Poco), and following a name change to Illinois Speed Press. In late 1970, Paul Cotton joined the band Poco, Kal David formed new group The Fabulous Rhinestones featuring Harvey Brooks (Bass Ex Electric Flag), and Marty Grebb (Drums Ex Buckinghams). In the early 1980s, David played Lead Guitar for John Mayall. At Hollywood's China Club, The Kal David Band headed up the weekly Pro-Jam with Stevie Wonder, Bobby Brown, John Entwistle, Larry Carlton, Stephen Stills, Joe Walsh, Paul Young and Brian Wilson as well as Blues Musicians such as Sam Taylor and and Floyd Dixon.
