Lou Donaldson is an American Jazz Alto Saxophonist. He is best known for his Soulful, Bluesy approach by playing the Alto Saxophone. He was, as many were of the Bebop Era, heavily influenced by Charlie Parker. He played with Art Blakey, Clifford Brown, Horace Silver and Tommy Potter, he recorded as a sideman in the 50's and occasionally afterwards with Thelonious Monk, Milt Jackson and Jimmy Smith. He has been a Bandleader from the mid-'50s up until the present.
